How does Erectile Dysfunction Shockwave therapy work?

Each session of Erectile Dysfunction Shockwave therapy lasts approximately 25 minutes. During the procedure a hand held shockwave device is applied at different points on and around the penis. Treatments are carried out by medically trained Storz shockwave specialists.

What are shockwaves?
Focused Shockwaves are high-energy waves. In the medical world, shockwaves have been used successfully for the treatment of various medical conditions since the 80’s. Shockwaves are generated by a hand hand device outside of the body (extracorporeally) and then travel through the patient‘s skin into the damaged or diseased tissue. This is why the method is called Extracorporeal Shock wave Therapy or ESWT for short.
There are two types of shockwaves, Radial and Focused (radial shockwaves should not be used for ED). Radial Shockwaves (Soft shock) are used to treat larger and more superficial indications.
Focused Shockwaves (Hard shock) have a smaller more targeted focal point for greater accuracy and greater treatment depth. The smaller targeted treatment area allows for a more comfortable treatment and is therefore the only Shockwave treatment that can be used to treat men’s sexual health conditions. Erectile Dysfucntion Shockwave therapy cannot be performed with Radial Shockwave. It is not indicated and would be far too painful anyway.
